The UCA NorCal Battle of the Badges returns Saturday, September 6, 2025 for “Fight Night Under the Lights” at Rock & Brews, 1600 Exposition Blvd, Sacramento, CA.

The 2025 Central California Battle of the Badges fight card features a diverse mix of fighters. Elite boxers with over 25 bouts, gifted athletes, fighters climbing the rankings and those who are stepping into the ring for the first time. Public safety boxing has a unique dynamic.

When a fighter begins their career in public safety boxing, the skill gap is wide. You’ll see complete beginners who want to represent their Department and seasoned high level fighters with years of experience. But there are exceptions. Some beginners are former high school or college athletes, or just naturally gifted competitors. They’re dedicated, and they tend to pick up the fundamentals, footwork, defense, combinations quickly. Training at a good gym, under a strong coach, and alongside solid stablemates can accelerate that learning curve.

Once a fighter finds their rhythm and commits to the process, progress comes fast. With each fight the gap starts to close. As fighters move up the rankings, the competition becomes sharper, more skilled, and more prepared. And at the top, there is no skill gap everyone is elite, and everyone is dangerous. Reaching the top is a major achievement. Taking home a UCA belt? That’s a monumental accomplishment.

See you Saturday.

Perdue has set up his training camp at Just Lift Gym in Hanford alongside the 2nd ranked Masters UCA Heavyweight title challenger, Rishard Hayes, CDCR – Wasco State Prison. Perdue is gaining experience and valuable knowledge from Hayes who defeated Hamblin last year.  Under the guidance of trainers Joe and Jacob Lopez, Perdue has built a strong camp and enters the fight with confidence.

Despite Hamblin’s significant experience advantage, Perdue believes he has what it takes to secure the victory. Hamblin has built a reputation for his courage, relentless mentality and willingness to take on any opponent. With a record of 1-10, he remains undeterred, setting his sights on evening up his record to 10-10.

The UCA 2nd ranked Jr Welterweight Jose Espinoza, representing the Fresno Sheriff’s Office may be the most talented fighter without a belt. Jose was scheduled to challenge three UCA Champions BJ Atkins, Armando Franco, and Carlos Lira for their titles, but unfortunate timing prevented those fights from happening. No fault of Jose he’s always on weight and ready to go.

Jose will now face the UCA Jr Welterweight newcomer Alex Perez, CDCR – SATF.

Perez can add a big name to his resume if he can sneak past Espinoza. Perez holds a record of 4-1 and is looking to make a statement in his UCA debut and make his argument for a title fight.
