On Friday May 27, 2022 the Ramona Bowl in Hemet CA hosted the SoCal Battle of the Badges “Fight Night under the Lights.” Fans filled the Ramona Bowl to see 16 action packed fights. The event featured a UCA Championship Double Header.

The first title fight of the night featured a unique style matchup between Kellen Kramer,  Bell Gardens Police Dept vs Jesse Zuñiga, LAPD for the UCA Jr Middleweight title. Kramer is known for his mauling, brawling style. He charges forward and smothers his opponent with a barrage of punches. Zuñiga is a very patient and calculated fighter who waits for his opponent to make a mistake and makes them pay for it.  When the bell rang to start this Jr Middleweight war Kramer came out of his corner ready to attack.  The game plan was neutralized by spectacular footwork, timing and elusiveness from Zuniga. The rugged and always tough Kramer was knocked down early in the round and got right back to his feet. Zuñiga’s timing and counter punching was just too much for Kramer. Zuñiga would score a knockout victory right before the bell sounded to end the 1st round.  And New….UCA Jr Welterweight Champion Jesse Zuniga, Los Angeles Police Dept.

Next up was perhaps the biggest female fight in Public Safety boxing history. The UCA Welterweight Champion Asiah Medawar, San Bernardino Sheriffs Dept put her belt on the line to take on the undefeated #1 ranked April Fonseca, Los Angeles Sheriff’s Dept. This fight delivered as promised.  It was a 3 round war that showcased both fighters skill level, grit and toughness. Both fighters pressed the action from the first to the last bell. This was a very close fight that was decided by 2 or 3 scoring punches. Tough fight for the judges to score.  When the scorecards were added up it was a split decision victory. And New….UCA Welterweight Champion April Fonseca, Los Angeles Sheriff’s Dept.
