Oh, you thought the stacked Central California UCA card couldn’t get any better? We had to pull out all the stops for the 10th annual event. A pair of heavy-handed elite fighters will try to keep the judges out of the equation when Michael Valle, CDCR – PVSP, and Jesse Zuñiga, Hemet PD, collide for the UCA Super Middleweight Championship title. The former UCA Super Middleweight Champion, Valle, makes his return to the ring after a 7-year layoff to test his skills against the former UCA Jr Middleweight Champion, Zuniga. Fight fans, please don’t leave your seats. Not only do Valle and Zuniga have superior boxing skills, but they also have the power to turn the lights out at any moment. It’s safe to say we are not going to hear the final bell in this one.

Calif vs Utah

Fight fans, brace yourselves for an intense showdown between two hungry fighters who are ready to unleash a storm of skill and determination when they step into the ring. UCA #5 Andres Martinez from CDCR-North Kern State Prison will square off with Ernesto Juarez, Davis Co Sheriff’s Office (Utah) who will be making his much anticipated ring debut.
 
Martinez made an instant impact in his UCA debut, defeating Kyle Gibson, FBOP-Atwater last year. Now he looks to remain perfect and get one step closer to the top of the division. Juarez will be traveling from Utah to compete and is ready to enter the talent filled UCA Super Middleweight division and make a statement.
 
Both fighters are deep into training camp and have surrounded themselves with the right people.  Martinez is training at Varelas Boxing Academy in Lindsay. Juarez is preparing at Junction City Boxing Gym in Utah.  Don’t leave your seats, this one is going to thump!

The fight-ready UCA 6th ranked Light Heavyweight, Kyle Gibson Federal Bureau of Prisons – Atwater will make his much-hyped return to the ring. Gibson will go head to head with the confident newcomer, Anthony Banda CDCR – Pleasant Valley State Prison as part of the talent-stacked UCA card.

When the fight card was being built, Gibson said, “I will take anyone from 175-200 pounds regardless of their record or experience, I want to fight.” Gibson is being trained by 6th ranked Super Heavyweight, Brent Pavey FBOP – Atwater at the Stand Your Ground Training Center ,in Atwater. Team Gibson is determined to put on a standout performance and have his #6 ranking moved closer to the top of the division.

The 26 year old, 2-2 Banda is training with the #1 ranked former champion, Mike Valle, CDCR – PVSP at The Dungeon MMA in Fresno under coach Art Peraza. Banda is poised to leave a memorable impression in his UCA debut and create waves in the division.

Both fighters are looking forward to the challenge and the fans can expect to be on their feet when these two warriors clash.

With fewer days left until fight time, training sessions for the #1 ranked UCA Title challenger, Manuel Galvan, CDCR – Sierra Conservation Center, are ramping up. Galvan is preparing to take on the undefeated #1 ranked Sean Baker, Los Angeles Fire Dept for the UCA Super Cruiserweight Championship title.

Galvan set up his championship training camp at Got Your 6 Boxing Gym in Copperopolis under the guidance of Coach Paul Richards. The gym is 2 hours south of Sacramento, located in Calaveras County. “I love it here,” Manuel said. “It’s peaceful, I have a key to the gym, and I can work out anytime I want. I can go for a run in the mountains, lift weights, and do my boxing workout.” Team Galvan is taking a different approach to this training camp. The team is focusing on sharpening technical skills and applying strategic sparring scenarios to simulate fight conditions. They are using bands for resistance in the ring, working on defense, counterpunching and angles. The gym provides good sparring with highly skilled lightweight boxers and heavy-handed heavyweights. Team Galvan will also travel to Bad2theBonz Boxing Gym in Modesto and Oakdale MMA to get a different look.

Fight fans, this is bout #4 on the fight card. Be sure to be in your seats and brace yourself for a banger when the bell rings.

San Quentin State Prison has demonstrated tremendous support for Correctional Officer Shanne Ruelas as she prepares to step into the ring against Nidia Alcantar, Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department for the UCA Lightweight Championship title. The encouragement and backing from SQSP Warden Chance Andes and coworkers are invaluable, bolstering Shanne’s morale and confidence as she approaches her championship fight with a positive mindset.

San Quentin Prison also presented Shanne a sponsorship check for assistance with expenses related to training, travel, and equipment, easing the financial burden and allowing her to fully dedicate herself to training for the upcoming fight.

With less than 6 weeks before fight time, Team Gutierrez is meticulously reviewing and refining their fight strategy. They are analyzing potential weaknesses in their opponent and devising a fight plan to exploit them. Gutierrez will take on the undefeated sharpshooter, Chris Sanchez, from the Tulare Fire Department, who holds a record of 4-0. As the fight date approaches, the UCA Super Middleweight Alberto Suarez, FBOP – Atwater, is intensifying his workouts and sparring sessions to peak at the right time. Suarez is training at Haro Bros Boxing Gym in Merced, California, also known as “Titletown U.S.A.”

Coach Jesus Haro Jr. opened the gym in 2012 and has had numerous professional fighters train and spar there. He also coaches his professional fighter sons, Jesus Haro with a record of 10-1 and Daniel Haro with a record of 4-1. Suarez finds himself in an excellent camp for his first fight, with the opportunity to train alongside professional fighters and spar with top-level amateurs.

Haro Bros Boxing Gym is ideal for Suarez’s upcoming fight against the undefeated UCA 5th ranked Light Heavyweight Andres Martinez, CDCR- NKSP, who also trains and spars with professional fighters at Varela’s Boxing Academy in Lindsay.

Suarez and Martinez may cross paths again in the future, potentially fighting for a UCA title. Don’t miss this showdown.

10 years ago, the first UCA Central California Battle of the Badges was held at the Hanford Civic Auditorium. Fight fans packed into the auditorium to witness four UCA Championship title fights and a loaded undercard. The event has gained a lot of momentum and is now considered the most exciting and competitive cards featuring the best fighters in public safety boxing.
