Bout 1
Raymond So, El Monte PD, vs George Del Junco, USAF, delivered the perfect opener to kick off the event. After three competitive back and forth rounds, Del Junco would emerge victorious.
Bout 2
Krystle Jordan, San Diego Police Department, pulled off one of the rarest and hardest achievements in the sport, regaining her title from the opponent who took it. With a true masterclass performance, Jordan executed the game plan perfectly to defeat Victoria Rodriguez, USMC, to once again become the UCA Super Lightweight Champion.
Austin Monteith, Redondo Beach PD, defeated Oskar Neilson, Corona FD. Austin showcased impressive skills and will be a name we’ll be hearing a lot about. Oskar had his moments, but Austin was just a little faster and sharper. For his performance, Austin Monteith earned the UCA Golden Fists Award.
Bout 4
Kristal Purificacion vs. Rebekah Drews, LA Co. FD, was a high punch count battle. Drews landed clean combinations, but Purificacion’s nonstop output secured the decision victory.
Bout 5
The most anticipated bout of the night featured Anthony Rodriguez, LAPD vs Austin Muro, Santa Barbara Co Fire Dept and the showdown delivered as promised. Rodriguez put on a dominant, composed, and technically sharp performance to defeat Muro by decision and take over the #1 spot in the division.
Anthony possesses all the attributes. poise, speed, athleticism, and a high fight IQ. As Rodriguez trajectory continues to rise, he is now firmly in the conversation.
Bout 6
Fight fans were on their feet for the long awaited return of Leslie Martinez of the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Dept and she delivered. From the opening bell, Martinez applied relentless pressure, showcasing the championship skill set that has made her the #1 ranked fighter in the division.
Rebecca Rivera, EMT showed tremendous courage stepping up against the more seasoned and dangerous Martinez. Rivera stood her ground and fired back, but midway through the second round the referee stepped in, giving Martinez the TKO victory and officially punching her ticket to a UCA Lightweight Championship title shot.
Rivera’s willingness to take on the best proved she has the mentality and toughness it takes and her story is just getting started.
A Cruiserweight showdown featured Isaac Ramos, Long Beach PD, vs. Abner Penaluza, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office. Penaluza’s southpaw stance and slick movement were a tough puzzle for Ramos early. After receiving instructions from the high level LBPD corner, Ramos executed the game plan and earned the decision.
Bout 8
The reign continues for Sam Telfer, Chula Vista Fire Department. Telfer defended his crown by defeating Paul Mora, SBCSO, to remain the UCA Jr. Cruiserweight Champion. Sam may be a champion for a long time unless someone can solve his style of angles, feints, tempo changes, punch selection, and seamless switching between stances,
Don’t sleep on undefeated Daniela Rosas, Long Beach Police Department. Rosas defeated Lauren Almanza to extend her perfect record to 3-0, and her ceiling continues to rise. She may not even realize how good she truly is.
Bout 10 featured a Montebello showdown between Police Officer Lawrence Moon and Firefighter Hermes Carbajal in a classic Police vs. Fire matchup. Moon not only battled Carbajal in the ring, but also the hundreds of Carbajal supporters in the crowd. After three hard fought rounds, Carbajal edged out the decision in a bout that earned UCA Fight of the Night honors.
Bout 11
Jacquelyn Rodriguez, SB DA Office, vs Domini Rolette was a competitive contest. Rodriguez started strong and won the opening round, but Rolette’s speed, strength, and craft took over late to earn her the decision victory.
Bout 12
Jaylin Johnson, Navy vs Salvador Gomez. Gomez came out hunting for a finish, and Johnson met him fire for fire in a slugfest. Both had their moments, but Gomez’s pressure carried him to a decision victory.
Bout 13
Dave Ramos, San Bernardino Co Sheriff’s Office, vs Quincy Whitworth Corona Fire Dept was promoted as a knockdown drag out slugfest and it lived up to the hype. Whitworth dominated early and it looked like this fight would end in the first round. Ramos punches were not having any effect on the 6’2, 295 pound Whitworth.
Ramos never gave up and continued to throw straight punches and found a home for the right hand. When the fighters came to the center of the ring Ramos would be announced the winner. Ramos proved he is a dog and there is no quit in him.
Bout 14
We saved the best for last. Tony Barriga vs Rico Orozco Barriga closed the show with a high intensity war that Barriga would win. This fight sent the crowd home buzzing and capped off an unforgettable night.
The 911 Fight Night public safety boxing event is in the books.
