The newly crowned Masters UCA Super Cruiserweight Champion, Adan Castillo of the Yolo County Sheriff’s Department is set to make his first title defense against the 7-1 Glen Gilhuber from the Eugene, Oregon Police Department. This will be Glen’s second time competing in the NorCal Battle of the Badges, having previously defeated Ken Weckman of the CHP in 2016. Gilhuber continues to train under his longtime coach, Adam Cornelison, at Empire Boxing Club, and he’s making every day in the gym count.
They say that once you become a champion, you’re 30% better. Adan Castillo knows that the belt puts a big target on his back and he’s gone from the hunter to the hunted. Since retiring from the Yolo County Sheriff’s Department, Adan has relocated to Las Vegas, where he heads security at the Sphere. He’s splitting his training camp between two locations: two days a week at Fit Club with coaches Anton Jurasek and Gianni Pompili, and two days a week with former Two-Time Light Middleweight World Champion, Fernando Vargas. “I am learning so much,” Castillo said. “The training is so different from what I’m used to. It’s going to be an epic night.”
