Keeping His Legacy Alive: The Randy Hoppert Memorial Tradition Begins

Beginning Saturday, June 27, 2026, the Randy Hoppert Memorial Award will be presented annually to the winner of the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office vs. Tulare County Fire Department rivalry bout at the Central California Battle of the Badges. Created in honor of Tulare County Sheriff’s Detective Randy Hoppert, who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, this award recognizes the fighter who best demonstrates courage, discipline, sportsmanship, and the unwavering commitment to service that Detective Hoppert embodied throughout his career. More than a trophy, the Hoppert Memorial Award serves as a lasting tribute to a fallen hero and a promise that his legacy, sacrifice, and dedication to his community will never be forgotten. This year Juan Hernandez from the Tulare County Sheriff Office and Pedro Figueroa from the Tulare County Fire Dept will step into the ring, not only to compete but to honor the life and memory of Detective Randy Hoppert and all those who have given everything in service to others.
